Hi, how are you? Today I’m going to be talking to you about what kind of future we will have, given the technological possibilities we have today. I hope you find it as interesting as I do!

So, I think we can both agree that the world is changing rapidly as a result of all the wonderful technological advances we’ve made as a society. Though we have already achieved so much, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and it’s truly exciting to imagine the possibilities of what we can do.

For example, I genuinely believe that we will find a cure for cancer within the next 50 years. Research laboratories are working with the latest and most cutting edge technology in order to investigate and examine the disease to the highest level of scrutiny. I think with access to such incredible resources, anything is possible. Similarly, I predict that we will continue to discover ways to prolong our lifespan, and turning 100 will soon be a run-of-the-mill occasion.

Aside from the medical field, I think it’s fair to say that urban spaces will change drastically. That is, we can say goodbye to grey high rises and 100 story high apartment blocks, and say hello to modern and sustainable architecture, from biodiverse plant walls to solar-panelled roofs. Furthermore, I’m hopeful that green spaces within cities will become a legal requirement, not just an attraction.

In that vein, the workspace will also begin to change. As we’ve already seen as a result of the pandemic, working from home models, or hybrid options, are becoming increasingly popular. In fact, I think this mode of work will be encouraged as it aids in reducing traffic and pollution, as people skip out on their daily commute. If you do have to travel to the office, best believe that the coming years will offer a plethora of head-spinning gadgets and gizmos to help you maximize your productivity in the workplace.

And lastly, we are about to see a boom in terms of communication technology. By now, we’re all familiar, and even slightly bored, with instant messaging and video-calling. But we mustn’t get complacent, as they’re developing new ways of communicating all the time. I predict that within the next 50 years, we’ll have operating systems that will act like people, as well as hologram-related technology in order to facilitate connection.

To cut a long story short, get ready for the future. We’ve only just begun to see what possibilities technology can bring us, and it’s crucial that we’re prepared and open for how the world will change and grow as science and technology present new inventions, devices, and concepts. I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited to see what the future will bring, and I will embrace any opportunity that these new technologies can give me.
